And I Thought We'd Have Nothing to Blog About Today

Today was a regular hot day.  The kids and I went to a shady park for a bit in the morning and then went home to hide from the sun.  But while we were at the park we saw lots of commotion as people worked to set up for some sort of festival.  I asked around and found out that it was to begin at 5pm.  I saw what I thought was a "pop-up" beer garden and I knew we'd be back in the evening.

The kids went straight to the cars!

And we headed straight here!

Beer and a wooden slab of random food.

And lederhosen!
Between trips to the playground, the kids entertained themselves with the limbo.
And large balloons.

Then Tyler and Sarah showed up and the kids were thrilled.

The big thing happening in town this weekend is the Basel Tattoo.  No, there aren't inked people running around.  According to Wikipedia, "The original meaning of military tattoo was a military drum performance, but subsequently it came to mean army displays more generally."  The Basel Tattoo is a huge thing here, but it wasn't in the cards for us to make it to an actual performance this summer.  However, we did get a sneak peak at the British and Italian tattoo groups this evening during and after the festival.

Not bad for a hot day that was looking pretty uneventful at the start!  Tomorrow, the mountains!!!
